One of the best things about the holidays is looking forward to new beginnings. Changing things around to get a fresh perspective and to anticipate better things to come. This year definitely has been a rollercoaster that we’ve all wanted to get off but let’s end it on a more positive note!
With the holidays approaching, you can take charge of the change by starting with your home. We’ve all spent a considerable amount of time at home, so the surroundings might have started to look stale and it may be difficult to drum up excitement for the holidays. You can turn this around by re-decorating your home. Here are some useful starting points:
Adding more light to any room will immediately change its mood and aesthetic. Arc floor lamps are becoming really popular, not only because they’re a great source of light that doesn’t take a lot of space but also because they’re thoughtfully-designed with the modern home in mind.
Decorating is a time-honoured part of the holidays. Support your decoration-adorned rooms with paintings that either contrast or add to the overall look of the room. By doing this, you’ll also make sure you don’t go overboard with the bobbles and tinsel, trying to fill up every empty wall at home. Go with a piece of art that you really connect with, to make it a permanent fixture.
Let’s face it; you’ve probably spent a lot of time on your couch these last few months. I know I have. And if you’re the type with a list of favourite holiday movies, then you’ll be spending even more time on it! So, it may be the right time to take a (virtual) look around and bring home a new couch. The good thing is that the choices are almost endless – from the colour, to the design there’s everything to choose from. There’s even a modular system that can be built around the space you have available.
If you’re not looking to make large changes to your home or if you don’t have the budget for large purchases, this could be a great way to go. There’s a large variety of coffee table sets (these could include end tables from the same series) that run the design gamut from mid-century modern to slightly rustic to even futuristic. Getting something that’s slightly out of the box will pretty much change the look and feel of your living space in a large way. Plus, everyone needs room to put their hot chocolate!
This is definitely the big one. And 2020 certainly is a good year for that kind of change, since we’ll probably be spending even more time at home. The tradition of watching your favourite holiday movies is even more important this year. So, give this some thought and see where your home entertainment system could use an upgrade.
Perhaps, you want to proudly display your Blu-ray and vinyl collection. Maybe cable management is an issue that you’ve been dreading to tackle? Or is it finally time to get the right console to place your precious speakers and finish off that home theatre? Whatever the case, now’s as good a time as any to wrap it up (see what I did there)?
It’s been a long year and we’ll all probably be glad to put it behind but let’s not brush aside the holiday season. Making any small (or big changes) will give you something to look forward to and keep you in the right spirit.
