Why Thanksgiving Weekend Is the Best Time to Refresh Your Home

In Canada, Thanksgiving marks the real start of the indoor season. The patio furniture is covered for winter, the evenings close in earlier, and home becomes the place where everyone gathers - first around the Thanksgiving table, then for holiday parties, family visits and New Year's Eve. It is the moment most of us take a hard look at the dining room or living room and decide what needs to change before the guests arrive.

A long weekend also gives you the one thing big furniture decisions need: time. Instead of squeezing a sofa decision in after work, you can measure the room, compare fabrics and finishes side by side, visit the showroom with the whole family and plan a complete space at your own pace. That is exactly what the Fall Sale is designed for - five days, one simple 20% discount and the full Sunpan range to choose from.

Fall Sale on Dining Room Furniture: Set the Table for the Holidays

Dining Tables

The dining table is the centrepiece of Thanksgiving dinner and of every holiday meal that follows. Choose a compact table for a condo dining nook or a generous statement table that seats the whole family, with a wide range of tops, bases and finishes to match the rest of your home. Before you buy, allow roughly 90 cm (36 in) between the table edge and the wall behind each chair, so guests can sit down and stand up comfortably.

Dining Chairs

Dining chairs are the largest category in the Sunpan range - from fully upholstered chairs made for long, unhurried dinners to sleek leather, wood and metal frames. A full set is where the Fall Sale pays off most: six or eight chairs at 20% off adds up quickly. For a tailored, designer look, place a pair of armchairs at the ends of the table and armless side chairs along the length.

Counter Stools and Bar Stools

Guests always end up in the kitchen. Counter stools and bar stools turn the island into extra seating for appetizers, coffee and the conversations that never quite make it back to the table. As a rule of thumb, choose counter stools for a standard 36-inch (91 cm) kitchen counter and bar stools for a 42-inch (107 cm) bar-height top, leaving about 25 to 30 cm between the seat and the underside of the counter.

Sideboards, Bar Carts, Benches and Banquettes

A sideboard gives you a serving surface for the holiday buffet and hidden storage for platters, linens and glassware the rest of the year. Add a bar cart for evening drinks, or a bench or banquette for flexible seating when the guest list keeps growing.

Fall Sale on Living Room Furniture: Sofas, Sectionals and Lounge Chairs

Sofas and Sectionals

Fall and winter are when the living room works hardest - movie nights, hockey nights, slow Sunday mornings and the whole family on the couch after a big dinner. Upgrade to a contemporary Sunpan sofa or sectional with deep seats and soft, textured upholstery, in proportions that work for both downtown condos and open-concept family homes.

Lounge Chairs and Ottomans

Lounge chairs are the second-largest category in the Sunpan range, so it is easy to find the right accent chair for a reading corner, a matching pair facing the sofa or a sculptural statement piece by the window. Add an ottoman for extra seating when guests drop by - or simply to put your feet up.

Coffee Tables, End Tables and Console Tables

Finish the room with a coffee table sized to your sofa - roughly two-thirds of its length is a good guide - end tables within easy reach of every seat and a console table behind the sofa or in the entryway, the first thing guests see when they come in from the cold.

Want to see more options? Browse all sofas, sectionals, sofa beds, occasional chairs, coffee tables, side and end tables, console tables and benches and ottomans in our living room furniture collection.

Fall Sale on Bedroom Furniture for Holiday Guests

Family staying over for the holidays? The Thanksgiving Weekend Fall Sale is the right time to finish the guest room - or finally upgrade your own. Choose from modern upholstered and wood beds, matching nightstands, dressers with generous storage and benches for the foot of the bed, all at 20% off. Complete the room with pieces from our beds, storage beds, nightstands, dressers and mattress collections, or explore all bedroom furniture.

Lighting, Wall Art, Mirrors and Décor for Shorter Fall Days

As the days get shorter, good lighting matters more than ever. Hang a chandelier or pendant over the dining table, then layer the room with wall sconces, table lamps and floor lamps for a warm evening glow. Bring in wall art and mirrors that bounce light around darker rooms, a rug for warmth underfoot, and vases, bowls, trays and decorative objects to style the table, shelves and sideboard.

Explore our full range of ceiling lights and chandeliers, wall lamps and sconces, table lamps and floor lamps in our lighting collection, along with wall art, mirrors, modern rugs, pillows and throws for cozy fall evenings and home décor accessories.

Home Office and Outdoor Furniture on Sale

How to Plan a Room During the Fall Sale

Measure first. Note the length and width of the room, the position of windows, radiators and outlets, and the space you need to walk around each piece.
Check the way in. Measure doorways, hallways, stairwells and, in a condo, the elevator - and book the service elevator for delivery day if your building requires it.
Map it out. Mark the footprint of a new sofa, dining table or bed on the floor with painter's tape to see how it really fits.
Buy the room, not just the piece. A table with matching chairs, or a sofa with a coffee table and lounge chair, is where the 20% saving adds up - and the room comes together all at once.

Contemporary Sunpan Design for Canadian Homes and Condos

Sunpan furniture fits the way Canadians live. Smart proportions suit downtown Toronto condos, while generous upholstery, leathers and wood finishes give larger family homes a sense of warmth and weight. Because Sunpan designs work across collections, a dining chair, a lounge chair and a coffee table from different series still read as one considered room - which makes the Thanksgiving Weekend Fall Sale the ideal moment to buy the pieces together and finish the space in one go.
